Tanda wins graded stakes - 03/29/10
TANDA won the Grade 3 Santa Paula Stakes at Santa Anita on March 28. The Sweetsouthernsaint filly won on the all-weather track in a swift 1:14.38, winning by 5 easy lengths. She was sold by McKathan Bros. at the OBS April sale in 2009. McKathan Bros. will be offering Tanda's half sister by Repent in a future 2 year old sale.

Stakes winners galore! - 12/20/08
Two McKathan Bros. graduates earned their initial stakes victories today. PIONEEROF THE NILE, an Empire Maker colt owned by Zayat Stables, won the $750,000 Grade 1 Cashcall Futurity. Trained by Bob Baffert and ridden by Garrett Gomez, the colt has now won 2 of 5 starts, with an additional Grade 1 placing in the Breeders Futurity at Keeneland. The 2 year old colt won today as the favorite.
Also, at Fairgrounds today, McKathan Bros owned LEIGH MCLOVIN made her initial stakes start a winning one with a 4 length victory in the Letellier Memorial Stakes. Going off as the favorite, the filly is trained by Ronny Werner and was ridden by Robby Albarado. The filly by Flame Thrower has now won 2 of 3 starts.

Tale of Ekati wins Cigar Mile. - 11/30/08
Charles Fipke's TALE OF EKATI won the Grade 1 Cigar Mile at Aqueduct via dq. The Tale of the Cat colt, from the Sunday Silence mare Silence Beauty, was interfered with by Harlem Rocker when making his move along the rail. Having to pull up and go around Harlem Rocker, he again came running and only missed actually winning by a nose. This is his second Grade 1 victory, having won the Wood Memorial earlier in the year. This was his 5th win in 12 starts. He also won the Jerome Handicap in his previous start. His earnings now stand at $1,172,758.

Stately Appeal wins. - 01/21/08
STATELY APPEAL, a 3 year old filly by Successful Appeal, bred and sold by McKathan Bros., broke her maiden in fine style at Santa Anita today in a maiden special weight event. She is owned by Michael Talla and trained by John Sadler. She is out of McKathan Bros. broodmare Stateliness, a stakes placed mare by Silver Deputy. Stateliness has a yearling colt by Candy Ride, and is booked to Johannesburg.

One of McKathan Bros' earliest yearling purchases was the Irish Open filly, Irish Cherry, purchased at the Keeneland September sale for $10,000. She has since gone on to fame as the dam of grade 1 winners DAAHER and SPUN SUGAR, and yesterday sold for $2.7 million in foal to Ghostzapper at the Keeneland January sale. From a $10,000 purchase to multi million dollar grade 1 producer....now thats bang for your buck.

SOK SOK, a 2 year old by Trippi, won todays $100,000 Sugar Bowl Stakes for 2 year olds at the Fair Grounds. Trained by Steve Asmussen and ridden by Shaun Bridgmohan, the colt won by nearly 9 lengths as the favorite. The Florida bred is owned by Savorthetime Stables. He was sold by McKathan Bros. at the Keeneland Two Year Old in Training Sale this past April.

Breeders Cup Winners! - 10/30/07
Congratulations to INDIAN BLESSING, Hal and Patti Earnhardt, and Bob Baffert on their big win in the Juvenile Fillies at Monmouth Park. The undefeated 2 year old filly is by Indian Charlie, whom the Earnhardts bred and raced, out of Shameful, who was purchased by McKathan Bros. for the Earnhardts for $50,000 as a yearling. She became a stakes winner for Earnardts, earning nearly $250,000. McKathan Bros. recommended the breeding of Indian Charlie and Shameful, so we are especially proud of this accomplishment.
Also congratulations to the spectacular MIDNIGHT LUTE, owners Mike Pegram and Weitman-Watson Performance, and trainer Bob Baffert, on his incredible winning performance in the Sprint. The son of Real Quiet was purchased for his connections by McKathan Bros.

McKathan Bros. graduates won 2 maiden special weight races at Monmouth on August 25. Zayat Stables' A.P. Indy colt Alaazo won his maiden race going a flat mile. Breaking last, he closed on the outside and wore down his rivals to win by a neck for his owners and trainer Bill Mott.
Cobra Strike, a colt by Ecton Park owned by Fantasy Lane Stable, won his debut at 5 1/2 furlongs in a quick 1:04 flat. The gray colt is trained by Alan Seewald.
