Our Surface

The centerpiece of the training center is the three-quarters mile racetrack, which incorporates generous 55-feet wide sweeping turns.

Built by Gerald Wright, the track boasts a 24 inch clay base, 4 inches of sub-base, and 3-1/2 inches of meticulously maintained cushion.

The track also features gates 7-12 of a historic Churchill Downs auxiliary gate that was used from 1917-1977. Completely refurbished, the gate is in fine working order.
